They leave for the Island. The Kid is right heading over the waves aren't to bad. Minutes pass and the Kid announces "There it is". As the team pull up to the Island they spot a sweet opening with some huge oak tree's. They both think "Perfect" They pull up, unload there gear and within minutes antenna's hung and already spotted on DXwatch! What seems like minutes the hams in the heavens only need two contacts to qualify the Island. Then it Happens Simultaneously HOP gets 1 of the last two contacts, mean while they hear over a loud speaker someone calling the Kid's name. Stating REPORT TO YOUR BOAT! So the kids approaches the boat. All the while HOP Frantically calling CQ CQ CQ for the final contact.
As The Kid approaches his boat he yells to HOP "Its the Sheriff!" HOP in a cold sweat continues CQ CQ CQ... The Sheriff informs The Kid. "Your Trespassing! Get off the Island or you will be Arrested!" At that exact moment HOP gets the final contact needed!. The two pack up there gear and are off the island in minutes. As they head out there Slap happy, High Fiving. After a few minutes of heading out they notice the wind has picked up. A Lot! After 20 minutes of 5-7 waves, soaking wet they arrive back to the marine. Once the boat is on the trailer there in the clear! The Sheriff pulls up requesting ID and explanation's.
The two explain they are HAM radio operators and having a DXpedition. The sheriff accepts there plea and states to let him run there names and if everything came back clean they would be free to go. As the Sheriff approaches the two from his cruise he glares at the HOP? The officer tells HOP to turn around and put his hands behind his back! HOP does and ask's. What's the problem officer?! The officer explains to HOP he has and unpaid ticket in TIMBUCKTOO MICHIGAN when HOP was deer hunting some years ago. The Sheriff explains he has to detain the HOP while he checks to see if they want to pick the HOP up for the now, bench warrant.
After several extremely tense minutes of HOP sitting in the cruiser he hears of the officer's radio. "Release with summons" HOP cheered aloud.
