W8OTC
The Old Time Communications CLUB was formed February 1st 2015 for one very specific reason. That was to get a club callsign W8OTC for a group of hams in the Monroe, Michigan and Toledo Ohio area's that had held several events in the area including field day, special events and Dxpedition's.
W8OTC was born, (Hold on to your hats) however once forming the club the trustee and several others realized there had to be some sort of order. So we built the website to help coordinate and facilitate the club and its activities. This gives people the information and opportunity to join, participate, ask questions and have fun within the club. Our main tool for club activities and discussion is the Forum. All related information in regards to club activities can be found in the Forum.
As we have built a club our #1 rule is. You must have Fun! Whether it be letting the smoke out of the box (Add more duct tape) or harassing someone that has let the smoke out of the box. (Didn’t add enough duct tape)FUN is #1
Experimentation is key to the ham radio hobby. We experiment a lot. everything from Echolink, IRLP, ALLSTAR,PSK31,JT65,SSTV, Amplifiers, Repeaters,Software, DMR, and everything in between. If you are afraid to hurt your equipment or as we say (Let the Smoke out) you probably do not want to participate in our kind of FUN!
Helping people in general, This covers a broad spectrum. Elderly hams, Handicapped hams or anyone in general. As well as various community events throughout the area. No questions asked no financial burden. Please do not offer any money, we will not take it. Although Pizza is never denied.
